Short Bio
Daniel Stilck França is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen and a member of the Quantum for Life Center. His research lies at the intersection of quantum algorithms, quantum learning, quantum information theory, mathematical physics, and optimization.
From 2022 to 2024, he held an Inria Starting Faculty Position at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon and was a member of the QInfo team. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the QMATH Centre at the University of Copenhagen and completed his PhD at the Technical University of Munich under the supervision of Michael Wolf.
He is the principal investigator of the ERC Starting Grant GIFNEQ, which develops Gibbs-state methods for near-term quantum computing.
Research interests
Daniel works on a variety of topics, including:
- Quantum algorithms and optimization.
- Quantum learning and estimation of states, channels, and dynamics.
- Quantum information theory, functional inequalities, and Gibbs sampling.
- Mathematical physics and the capabilities and limitations of noisy quantum devices.
